The 10 Point Coalition is a grass roots organization based in Indianapolis that has been fighting crime and violence for nearly two decades. If you look at this photo, you will find Howe’s own Behavioral Interventionist, Jeffrey Anderson. The 10 Point Coalition has data driven results showing their effectiveness. The Butler Tarkington Neighborhood, the neighborhood where Mr. Anderson lives, has experienced a 85% reduction in crime as a result of the activities of the Coalition. No homicides have been reported in Butler Tarkington in 600 days.
The vision of the 10 Point Coalition is to reduce violence and homicide through direct engagement, promotion of education and the fostering of employment opportunities. The 10 Point Coalition has been honored by the FBI for their community involvement. Even, Vice President of the United States of America, Mike Pence was in Indianapolis in August to honor them at their annual dinner. We at TC Howe High School applaud Mr. Anderson for his community involvement. He mirrors what we try to instill in our students; good citizenship and positive community involvement. “I always want to be a part of the solution. I live in this neighborhood and I have a responsibility to help keep it a great place to live.” I can’t say anything to our students if I am not doing my part.” This is the kind of culture we grow here at TC Howe.
